Austal's Singapore Industry Day
Austal USA hosted the first Austal Southeast Asia Regional Industry Day last week in Singapore. The event brought together a cross section of the region’s ship repair industry leaders and government officials. The program included a presentation of Austal’s vision for the region and discussion of teaming opportunities to support the U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ships and Expeditionary Fast Transports deployed to the region followed by a networking session. The industry day was another step in the growth of Austal USA’s presence in Singapore as they ramp up efforts ahead of the deployment of the next Navy Littoral Combat Ships in 2019.
Austal Senior Director of Business Development and Customer Affairs, Larry Ryder, who provided an overview of Austal USA’s Singapore vision to open the event, commented, “The success of this event was a result of the close relationships we have built with the Navy, MSC, and industry leaders in Singapore and the region. We are committed to the growth of our Singapore operation. The leader of our efforts here, Mike Little, has built strong relationships throughout the region and postured Austal to be ready to support the needs of the Navy and MSC as well as our industry partners. We have a strong outlook for growing our Singapore operation and building lasting relationships with our teammates.”
Mike Little, Senior Manager, Pacific Region, noted, “Austal looks forward to strengthening our relationships with our suppliers to ensure the maintenance for these ships as seamless as possible returning the ship to the fleet on schedule if not ahead of schedule.”
Austal USA is continuing to develop new vendor relationships as it grows its capabilities in the region and anticipates another, larger even more successful industry day next quarter.
