AUSTAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES MORE THAN $171,000 FOR UNITED WAY OF SOUTH ALABAMA

Mobile, Ala. – Austal raised more than $171,000 for the United Way of South Alabama through its annual golf tournament held this year at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Springs Golf Course in Mobile, Ala., Mar. 11.

Golf outing participants and contributors to the event helped surpass last year’s total of $142,647.

“It’s amazing to see the outstanding support Austal and the United Way of South Alabama receives from the local community and our supplier base,” Austal USA President Craig Perciavalle said.  “I’d say I’m surprised but from day one, Austal has received tremendous support from our community at the local, county, state and national levels, from our suppliers, our friends and our workforce family.”

This year’s tournament garnered support from major sponsors such as General Dynamics Mission Systems, Alabama Credit Union, Infirmary Health Systems and Berard Transportation, to name just a few.

This is the 5th year Austal has held the event to benefit The United Way of South Alabama and its charities.

Perciavalle emphasized the significance of the day. “This outpouring of support is another example of the strength Austal has behind it as a company and why we’ll be building ships for years to come.”
