Austal USA Teams Up With the American Heart Association To Donate CPR Kit to Local School

MOBILE, Ala. - Austal USA and the American Heart Association (AHA) are partnering to provide students the resources they need to help save lives.

Last month, Austal USA Workforce Development Manager Ryan Lee and AHA representatives presented Williamson High School with a CPR in School Training Kit.

“We are excited to help make the resources available to the faculty and staff at Williamson High School. These CPR in Schools Kits will be responsible for training hundreds of students in life-saving Hands-Only CPR,” said Dan Mellett, senior director with the American Heart Association.

“Many people don’t know that nine out of every 10 people who go into cardiac arrest outside of a hospital will not survive – unless a bystander intervenes by performing CPR. Bystander CPR can double or triple a victim’s chances of survival, and it’s an easy skill that can be learned in less than five minutes. We are grateful for the commitment Austal USA is making to the community by investing in these much-needed training resources.”

The easy-to-use CPR kits are designed for educational environments and contain everything needed to train 10 to 20 students at a time, enabling students to learn the core skills of CPR in just one class period.
